2501 Brings La Macchina To Detroit For Movement

Since launching 10 years ago, Detroit’s Movement Electronic Music Festival has pulled the world’s best sonic and visual artists to Hart Plaza, and this year was no exception as Italian painter and muralist, 2501 joined dozens of the electronic music scene’s best and brightest alongside 1xRUN to help 2501 bring La Macchina to life. Read on to check out the video and process photos from 2501’s installation at Movement and fans interacting with La Macchina!

Hitting the ground running, 2501 began 5 days before the grounds flooded with festival goers. Covering a 528 sq ft wall, the Italian artist began by adhering vinyl sheets to white out the surface and by day 2 of the installation and painting, he had begun to paint on his newly blank slate and laid down the first lines. As the process continued, the mural began to take symmetrical form.
