1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this series of work?
Sonni: This series of work was born from recent moments. Some while walking in the street, others from sitting in the park. I like to look at people and imagine things. Then I draw it.
1xRun: Was this series part of a recent theme, series or show that you had?
Sonni: I always think of my work as a huge series, unified by colors, expressions and characters.
1xRun: What materials were used to create this series of work?
Sonni: Acrylic and pencils on paper

1xRun: When were these pieces created and how long did they take to complete?
Sonni: They were created this year over a two week period.
1xRun: Tell us a bit about your process and how the idea and execution comes about for your work?
Sonni: I draw a lot, I’m always hanging out with my sketchbook and pencils in my bag. I take pictures, notes and I make quick drawings all the time, especially when something catches my interest. Then I select what I like and I sketch that idea again and again until the moment it feels right and is ready to become a painting.
1xRun: Does this series differ at all from work you’ve done in the past. If so, what do you feel is unique about these pieces?
Sonni: Every painting I do even when they are done with the same technique and colors, is different from the others, because the message, I appeal to emotions.
1xRun: If you could take a guess, what is it about your work that you feel resonates with people?
Sonni: The simplicity mix with a strong idea. I guess the primary colors too.
1xRun: If you could sum up this collection of work in one gut reactionary word, what would it be?
Sonni: Medicine for the soul
1xRun: When did you first start making art?
Sonni: When I was a kid.
1xRun: Do you remember what your first piece was?
Sonni: I can’t remember, but at that time I made a lot of portraits and put eyes and noses on everything at my family’s house.
1xRun: Which artists did you draw inspiration from early on?
Sonni: Mostly cartoons like Felix The Cat, Disney, Kawaii Illustrations. Ohhh and I was very big fan of Robotech and Astroboy too.
1xRun: Which artists inspire you now?
Sonni: It’s hard to answer, since I spend so much time in museums and galleries. It’s very mixed.
1xRun: What would you say is your ideal environment like when working? Do you listen to music, watch movies etc.
Sonni: I like a big window with a beautiful view, music and no distractions. That is the best way for me to be productive.
1xRun: If you could collaborate with any living artist who would it be and why?
Sonni: I have already collaborated with Friends With You for several years and that’s been a dream come true.
1xRun: If you could collaborate with any deceased artists who would it be and why?
Sonni: Walt Disney. I would show him my ideas for a park.
1xRun: What was the first piece of art that you bought? Do you still have it?
Sonni: I started collecting prints from fellow artists in Argentina and I have bunch at this point.
1xRun: What was the last piece of art that you bought?
Sonni: Right now I’m more about buying vintage toys.
1xRun: Any big shows or events coming up that you’d like to share?
Sonni: I’m going to have a solo Art show in Miami / Wynwood at a gallery called Wyn317 in October. I’m very excited.
