1xRUN Thru Interview
Fudweiser by Elmer
1xRun: Tell us a little bit about these pieces.
Elmer: I wanted to step out of my box and make something I’m not used to. But at the same time, I still wanted my style adapted to these new pieces. The past meets the future. These are the last 3 originals I have.
1xRun: Were these pieces part of a recent theme, series or show that you had?
Elmer: These were apart of the Redbull House of Art cycle 10 group show.
1xRUN: What materials were used to create these pieces with?
Elmer: I assembled laser cut wood and spray paint were to build these pieces.
1xRun: When were these pieces created?
Elmer: These pieces were created around March 2015.
1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Elmer: The idea of using the laser cut wood was actually a suggestion from Matt Eaton. As soon as he brought it up I immediately had a good idea of what direction I wanted to go in.
1xRun: How long did each piece take to complete?
Elmer: I worked on multiple pieces at a time, I only had about a month to work because of technical issues.
1xRun: What do you feel are unique about this pieces?
Elmer: They are uniform yet all over the place, they are like confined chaos.
1xRun: Why should people buy these pieces?
Elmer: They look really good on your wall, in any setting.
1xRun: Describe these pieces in one gut reaction word.
Elmer: Jetsons.
1xRun: As we start a new year, tells us a bit about some of your favorite moments from 2015.
Elmer: The opportunity to work on these pieces at Redbull and show them was fulfilling.
1xRun: What are your plans for 2016? Any big shows or events coming up that you’d like to share?
Elmer: I keep pushing myself with new process and ideas, take a Gatorade break from Detroit since these lame ass cops want to fuck with me.
