Earth Crusher Gives The Raise

Earth Crusher aims to maximize the overall return to its shareholders by controlling and dominating all life on the planet – areas of expertise in which we have a clear competitive advantage. A fundamental part of this is to deliver value while operating in a non ethical and socially inept manner, and remaining committed to short term gain.

At Earth Crusher, there is always a suite of quality projects under development and a portfolio of global exploitation projects to ensure profitable development opportunities for the future. Projects like slavery, deforestation, lethal tobacco production, toxic chemical production, tactical weapons systems, torture techniques, apple pie, unsustainable farming, intrusive surveillance systems, asbestos mining, and the list goes on.

1x: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Earth Crusher: I became interested in advertising and propaganda in the beginning of my art career and I especially liked the billboard as a medium and started experimenting with it. I see the billboard as being outside of the control of the people, a symbol of power and manipulation. I decided I’d build my own as an attempt to take that power and put it behind my own messages.

1x: What do you feel is unique about this piece?
Earth Crusher: The original work is the largest piece I’ve created personally so far, and I usually don’t make prints of my work so this is a rare occasion.

1x: Why should people buy this print?
Earth Crusher: I believe it’s the perfect addition to any corner office or private jet.

1x: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.

1x: When did you first start making art?
Earth Crusher: I think I started when everyone else did, around kindergarten, but I just kept doing it with the encouragement of my family. I started taking it more seriously as a career about 10 or 12 years ago.

1x: What was your first piece?
Earth Crusher: Can’t say I have a first piece really. My first graffiti piece was around 2003. I painted a robot face under the bridge near my parents house.

1x: What artists inspired you early on?
Earth Crusher: My biggest influences early on came from artists like TWIST, ESPO and GIANT as well as the movie/book American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis.

1x: What artists inspire you now?
Earth Crusher: I’m really lucky now because I get to work with, or closely to, some of my favorite artists in Montreal with my crew A’Shop. My partner in crime, FIVE EIGHT is always pushing the boundaries of his work and I think we really feed off each other. I’m also a big fan of artists like PREF, ROIDS, PANT, GARY, SATONE… just to name a few. There are so many great artists out there to keep things interesting!

1x: Do you listen to music while you work? If so what? If not then what is your environment like when you work?
Earth Crusher: I usually listen to 80’s disco music while working. DJ Walla P and Dr. Mad have a radio show called Voyage Funktasique and it keeps the studio extra groovy.

1x: If you could collaborate with any living artist who would it be and why?
Earth Crusher: Maybe SATONE, GARY, 123K, FAUST… too many to name!

1x: If you could collaborate with any deceased artists who would it be and why?
Earth Crusher: I’ve tried painting with a few dead people, but I always end up doing most of the work.

1x: What was the first piece of art that you bought? Do you still have it?
Earth Crusher: I’m pretty sure the first piece I bought was made by a “sandwich artist” and it didn’t last long unfortunately.

1x: What was the last piece of art that you bought?
Earth Crusher: Don’t have much in the way of art buying budget, but I recently made a trade with NAKS SDK in Vancouver and I’m very happy with the piece he sent me.

1x: Any big shows or events coming up that you’d like to share?
Earth Crusher: On May 27th I’m doing a show with JABER JKR in Lachine Quebec, followed by a trip to LA to paint a massive wall at the Container Yard with FLUKE, ETHER TFB, DODO OSE, BACON, OG SLICK, ANKH ONE, and ZEK 156.
