1x: Tell us a little bit about this piece, anything immediate you would like us to highlight about this image?
Earth Crusher: I came up with the idea of putting the Earth Crusher character in a heroic pose holding a woman like some 50’s movie poster some years ago and I decided to revisit the idea with the Statue of Liberty in his arms. He is shown “saving the girl” or doing what he may think is right, while at the same time taking away everyone’s liberty. I didn’t intend to paint it to coincide with Trump’s election as the twin towers are shown in the background, I wanted to illustrate something that has been going on for a long time.

1x: How long did each of this piece take?
Earth Crusher: I spent about a week on this painting.

1x: What is unique about this imagery compared with your other work?
Earth Crusher: I don’t tend to paint in full colour usually. I prefer monochrome or a subtle palette, but this time I chose a vivid colour palette to pouch myself into something outside my comfort zone.

1x: Why should people buy one of these prints?
Earth Crusher: You’d have to be crazy not to.

1x: Describe this image in one gut reaction word.
Earth Crusher: Huge.

1x: You recently made the trek down to Miami, how did things go down there for you?
Earth Crusher: I had a great time thanks to my crew A’shop who were down there doing big things. I went down basically to just check it out for next time, but I got to paint a couple walls and create a couple works.

1x: Was it your first time down there or have you been a few times already?
Earth Crusher: This was my first time, hopefully now my last!

1x: As 2016 wraps up here, recap some of your favorite projects of the year for us.
Earth Crusher: The one that really stands out is our trip to LA to paint the container yard for 3 weeks. It is A’shop’s biggest mural to date bringing together 11 artists (I believe?) including a few LA legends who I was very proud to work with.

1x: What are some of the strides you feel you made with your work this year?
Earth Crusher: After this year, I’ve felt a strong pull towards creating more fine art. I find it rewarding to create projects from the ground up. A wall gives you something to work with, but when you build something from scratch, you have any range of possibilities to overcome.

1x: What was the last piece of art that you bought?
Earth Crusher: I haven’t become much of a collector yet, but if I could I’d get a piece from SatOne.

1x: What are some of the things you’re aiming to improve on for 2017?
Earth Crusher: Other than my credit score, I’d have to say just becoming more and more comfortable with the different mediums I enjoy.

1x: What does your schedule look like for the new year? Any big events, shows, projects you want to talk about?
Earth Crusher: I’m currently looking to have a show this summer, putting away as many pieces I can over the winter. Nothing is set in stone yet, but working on it!

1x: Where else can people find you?
