1xRun: Tell us a bit about this original piece, what materials did you use?
Becca Midwood: The “Forever” lady is a character of mine that I’ve painted over the years. I love her, so I keep bringing her back. I did this piece in 2012 with paint on paper and wood.

1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Becca Midwood: The color in this forever painting were inspired by Red on Red. When I originally put this lady up in 2009 on the construction site of the Missoni Store in Beverly Hills I was immediately struck by the Red on Red. I loved it! My street work inspires indoor work everyday.

1xRun: Why should people buy the print?
Becca Midwood: There are several reasons for people to buy this print. Art increases in value unlike new shoes, flat screens, jeans etc. Prints make a thoughtful gift. Art can really change the mood in a room, I also find the Forever lady super pretty almost lifelike. I find myself looking at this painting everyday, as it is lock screen image on my devices. Red on Red is full of free energy.

1xRun: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.
Becca Midwood: Forever.

1xRun: When did you first start making art and what was your first piece?
Becca Midwood: I started as a kid due to the fact that my mother is a painter. It’s hard to say what my first piece was since I’ve been painting before I was talking.

1xRun: What artists inspired you early on and who inspires you now?
Becca Midwood: Jeff Koons, Edouard Vuillard, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Rothko and anything painted before 1950. These days I’m inspired most by the old masters.

1xRun: Do you listen to music while you work?
Becca Midwood: I’m a news junkie and I watch a lot of CNN etc. I’ve been known to tune into to The Bold and The Beautiful as well. I like upbeat music Katy Perry, Pink, No Doubt and any reggae. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of country music.

1xRun: If you could collaborate with any living artist who would it be and why? Any deceased artists?
Becca Midwood: As far as any living artist, I would have to say Jeff Koons. For the latter, it would be Andy Warhol. For the why, it is because both of them are geniuses.

1xRun: What was the first piece of art that you bought? Do you still have it? The last?
Becca Midwood: This is a skull on wood cut-out by an artist named Wes Freed from Richmond Va. I bought this in 1988ish. I cherish it. Aside from that, I don’t really buy a lot of art. I only have mine and my mother’s paintings in my home.
