1xRUN: Tell us a little bit about this piece, when was it created and with what materials?
Defer: This piece truly represents the realm in which I navigate. This particular piece is not part of a particular series, but it’s style is in alignment with a particular style of what I call “Spiritual Language”. This style is where letter forms go beyond their normal structure. This piece was created this year 2013 using acrylic on canvas.
1xRUN: Tell us a bit about how the idea and execution for this piece came about?
Defer: The idea came about as I was thinking about how every individual has his or her own space of function, decision and rule.
1xRUN: How long did this piece take? Is the original still available?
Defer: I work on many projects at the same time so it’s hard to give an accurate time of completion. The original is not for sale, however, there are 7 original pieces available that were created exclusively for 1xRUN.
1xRUN: What is unique about this piece?
Defer: Every piece is unique in its own right.

Defer: I think people should buy this print because I want to make it available for an affordable price.

Defer: In 2014 I have many projects lined up – including a project with the Getty.
