Spiritual Migration by Defer

1xRUN: Tell us about this piece, is it part of a recent series or theme?
Defer:
This particular piece is not part of a series or theme but rather a combination of elements that I use in my works – lettering, abstract, motion, layers. I also revisited my use of elements of the animal world – birds migrating.

1xRUN: What materials did you use and when was this piece created?
Defer:
I used acrylic on canvas. I created this piece about a month ago, this year 2013.

1xRUN: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Defer:
The idea for this piece came about when I was thinking about how birds migrate and how it correlates to the human spirit. I though about how different life experiences can bring about spiritual change or a spiritual migration to or from a certain place.

1xRUN: What is unique about this piece compared to your other work?
Defer:
What makes this piece unique, its the first time Ive painted a group of birds in migration.
