Denial + NoseGo Team Up On Exscape

1xRun Thru Interview
Exscape by Denial & NoseGo

1xRun: Tell us a bit about this piece, it was created while NoseGo was in Windsor for the recent Free For All Walls correct?
Denial: Yeah, a friend had turned me on to NoseGo about a year ago and I have been watching this guy crush everything so I invited him to come take part of our mural project.
NoseGo: Yes, it was a fun way to wrap up the trip.

1xRun: Denial, tell us a little bit about the Free For All Walls project and NoseGo, give us some insight into your experience on the project?
Denial: I created F4AW about 2 years ago and funded a lot of the initial murals myself. Some people in the “funding” game noticed and suggested I write a grant to see if I could get some substantial funding for the project. I partnered with a local not for profit artist centre (ArtCite Inc.) and we wrote this amazing grant and got it. It has been an amzing and busy summer here since. Here is our roster so far Nychos (Austria), Bask (USA), Omen (Canada), Ben Frost (Australia), Nosego (USA), Persue (USA), Rime (USA), Above (USA), Elicser (Canada), High 5 (Canada), Nekoes (USA), Labrona (Canada), Gaia (USA), Kwest (Canada), Spud (Canada), Earthcrusher (Canada) , Czr Prz (USA), Chou (Canada), Uber5000 (Canada) and XRAY (Canada). The project intends to continue well into 2014.
NoseGo: It was great, wonderful people and an amazing selection of walls to choose from!

1xRun: Is this the first collaboration you both have done together?
Denial: Yes.
NoseGo: Yes indeed.

1xRUN: When was this piece created and with what materials?
NoseGo: The original piece was created around September 18th 2013 on a wood panel with aerosol and acrylic paint.

1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Denial: I thought it would interesting to collaborate with Nose seeing how free his style is and how precise and designed my aspects would be. We decided to create a box within the piece then have a Nosego creation kind of breaking out of those elements of the piece. I think it is a very interesting mix of our styles.
NoseGo: The art direction was handled by the crafty Denial.

1xRun: How long did the piece take?
NoseGo: About a week.
Denial: Yup.

1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Denial:
Definitely an awesome experience, love this guy
NoseGo: It’s a rare collaboration for the both of us.

1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Denial:
We decided to try and do a very limited edition of 20, they shouldn’t last long.

1xRun: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.
Denial: Destroy.

1xRun: What are some of your favorite aspects of each others work?
Denial: Nose is definitely talented in the studio but it is also a thing of beauty to watch this guy paint a wall outdoors. You want to see a happy man give this guy some paint and a wall. So glad to have him part of our project.
NoseGo: I’m a fan of Denial’s compositions!

Denial: Company of Thieves at Inner State Gallery with Ben Frost, October 18th, I am also part of a group show at Vertical Gallery in Chicago then hopefully off to Australia with Ben for a few weeks in December. Art Basel is up in the air for me this year as I haven’t received my immigration paperwork yet. I do hope to meet up with OMEN up in Miami this year.
NoseGo: Currently just focusing on the work for ‘Unknown Elements’ with Curiot at Thinkspace Gallery!
