1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this original piece…
Denial: This piece wasn’t allowed in a show I wanted it in, in Dubai. They have strict rules on obscenity and vulgarity. I have been wanting to paint this piece for a long time and was looking for just the right image to base it on. I finally found it amongst the bowels of the internet. This piece is a visualization of an amazing Bill Hicks joke from his stand up routine. In his stand up Bill goes into great detail the evils of advertising when left unchecked. He imagines and describes an ad in the not so distant future. I painted that ad.
1xRun: What materials were used to create this piece?
Denial: Multiple cut stencils and aerosol on wood panel.
1xRun: When was the piece created?
Denial: This took me about a week but I have been playing with the design over a few years here and there. It was finished this year.
1xRun: Anything immediate you would like us to highlight?
Denial: I was asked NOT to bring this piece to Dubai for my exhibition there, understandably it is now here for sale.
1xRun: How long did the piece take?
Denial: About a week.
1xRun: What is unique about this piece compared with some of your other work?
Denial: I take inspiration from different artists in different ways. I like to visualize things like songs or speech or comedy and play with those elements I come up with. I have a very playful mind.
1xRun: Why should people buy one of these prints?
Denial: Bill Hicks was a fucking genius and I only hope I did his work the justice it deserves. He was so inspirational in forming my current mindset, a true artist and rebel.

1xRun: You’ve been staying extremely busy since our last release, bring us up to speed on what you’ve been up to?
Denial: I am on my way out the door, literally, to my show in Dubai Sept 25. After that gonna link up with Ben Frost in Sydney for a show at Ambush gallery then to Las Vegas to meet up with Dillon Boy at his new gallery Wall and Street.
1xRun: You’re constantly traveling and you’re heading out to Dubai, is that for work or fun?
Denial: Yeah my solo show is called Use Once and Destroy and delves deeper into my vein of work in regards to mass consumption and consumerism. I did a shit ton of new shaped pieces and cutout stuff. I am also painting with OMEN who will be down there for the show as well as a very special guest artist.
1xRun: You had a massive mural project in Windsor, Canada, how did that wrap up and do you plan on continuing it?
Denial: That project has been so great, we still have about 6 artists painting and then I have to go back to the drawing board as far as funding goes. I am confident and can keep it going a few more years and then maybe pass the torch ya know.
1xRun: Any other big plans for the next 2-3 months you’d want to touch on?
