Hannah Stouffer Returns To 1xRUN With Her Latest Moral Allegory For Pow Wow 2014

1xRUN Thru Interview
Moral Allegory by Hannah Stouffer

1xRUN: Tell us a little bit about this piece, is the original still for sale?
Hannah Stouffer: I’ve been working on a couple new pieces in the last few months while traveling. I basically had no other choice than to create small bits of watercolor and ink work, scan them in periodically and rearrange them digitally due to my schedule. This piece was one of the products of that process so all I have are scraps of a million different layers, but some of them are amazing on their own. So yes, if you like scraps I’m your girl.

1xRUN: Was this piece part of a recent  theme, series or show that you had?
Hannah Stouffer: It’s been a common theme for a minute now. Metaphysics, light allegory, the same transcendental things I normally work with. It’s really just a further extension of my current obsessions and yes, it’s the beginning of a series for a few upcoming shows, but this piece specifically is exclusive for 1xRUN.

1xRUN: What Materials were used to create this piece with?
Hannah Stouffer: Ink and watercolor on paper, primarily, computer magic and so much lust.

1xRUN: When was this piece created and how long did it take to finish?
Hannah Stouffer: This piece was created during the holiday season 2013 at my folks house in Aspen, CO on a bearskin rug. Overall though, it took about  2 months to complete.

1xRUN: Anything immediate you would like us to highlight?
Hannah Stouffer: I’m near obsessed with palm trees at the moment. The repetition is extremely meditative, similar to how I used to spend hours on snakeskin.

1xRUN: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Hannah Stouffer: I usually let my work be its own guide. It’s all floating around somewhere inside me.

1xRUN: What is unique about this piece?
Hannah Stouffer: It was actually based on an old Masonic rendering called ‘Masters Carpet’ which is pretty incredible.
