If You Ask Me… It’s About the Soul Curated By: Ricky Powell

If you were in New York City last night & you didn’t swing by Ricky Powell’s curated show at The Sacred Gallery, you messed up big-time! World famous photographer and self proclaimed individualist Ricky Powell is known for his iconic portraits and street photos from the 1980’s.  Last night Powell stepped back to shine the light on some of his favorites, as he assembled a banging show with a blend of classic New York graff writers and photographers including Tyke, Ces, Dr. Revolt and Ron Gallela, alongside a few new school writers and photographers including Danielle Mastrioni, Mike Swoop and Tono Radavany.

The show was is a beautifully crafted balance of what New York was and the direction the younger generation is taking the scene.  The Rickford Institute has been nothing shy of quality for almost 30 years in the game now. Last night Ricky proudly displayed his own work, a shot of graff king Dondi and RUN D.M.C. among the 50 participating artists.
