Inside Temple Children’s Revitalize Hilo Mural & Food Project On Hawaii’s Big Island

This past October, our friends Meggs and Miya Tsukazaki, also known as Temple Children launched their first community project Revitalize Hilo.  Detroiter’s got a first look at Verso back in September during Murals In The Market, the duos first exhibition, and to help them bring their vision to life in Tsukazaki’s hometown of Hilo, the tight knit festival brought out 1xRUN alum Jet Martinez, Yoskay Yamamoto and Kai’ili Kaulukukui, along with Rick Hayward, Emily Devers, Sam Yong, Brandy Serikaku and filmmaker Cory Martin.

“This project is about taking the act of public art one step further, really immersing ourselves and other artists in cultural experiences that are about environmental appreciation and sustainability. Sharing meals as a group is a great way to gain an understanding of where the food is actually coming from, but also to talk about ideas and bond as a family,” Meggs said.
