Jasper Wong Makes A RUN 4 The Homies

1xRun Thru Interview
Homies 4 Life by Jasper Wong

1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about? When was it created and with what materials? Is it sold?
Jasper Wong:  I just wanted to paint something for the homies. This is meant to honor all the homies in the world from the past, present, and future. Especially dinosaurs, but not the ones with social disorders. The original was created in 2012 using a mixture of acrylic paint, spray paint, ink, colored pencil, graphite and paint markers on canvas. It was approximately 48in x 48in. Yes, the original has been sold to a private collector.

1xRun: How long did the piece take from start to finish?
Jasper Wong:   It was on and off for about a week. It haunted me for a little while and then I freed its soul from purgatory. I still have evidence of stigmata on my body, but the one on my buttocks is probably a rash from cheap underwear.

1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Jasper Wong:  It helps with your bowel movements. If you’re looking for some regularity and hate the after taste of prunes, then put this print within sight of your porcelain throne. Your feces will thank you as they meet their family and friends in the liar of the Ninja Turtles. Cowabunga dude. It’s a pussy magnet. I have a house full of stray cats as proof.

1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Jasper Wong:  All proceeds will go towards the funding of my hairy seventies porn museum. This will benefit your future generations and assist victims of third nipple syndrome. Nobody wants to be a third wheel.

1xRun: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.
Jasper Wong:  Delicious.

Homies 4 Life by Jasper Wong

1xRun: When did you first start making art?  What was your first piece?
Jasper Wong:  In the womb.  It was probably my childhood Lego city.

1xRun: What artists inspired you early on?  What artists inspire you now?
Jasper Wong:  Early on it was Henry Darger, Jack Kirby, Osamu Tezuka and Hannah Barbera. Now the list is never ending and changes daily. A major inspiration includes Will Barras, who also happens to be a close friend of mines. His process is mind blowing. I want to be his mistress.

1xRun: Do you listen to music while you work? If so what? If not then what is your environment like when you work?
Jasper Wong:  I tend to paint to the tunes of 80’s rock or movie soundtracks.

1xRun: If you could collaborate with any living artist who would it be and why? Any deceased artists who would it be and why?
Jasper Wong: Yoshitomo Nara. Watch “Traveling with Yoshitomo Nara” and the answer is there between the frames. For the latter, Henry Darger. He is as real as it gets.
1xRun: What was the first piece of art that you bought? Do you still have it? The last piece?
Jasper Wong:  It was probably a bad black velvet painting from the carnival. When I say “bad”, I mean “awesome”!  The last is a framed Hannah Stouffer print from 1XRUN!

1xRun: What else have you been up to?
Jasper Wong:   POW WOW Hawaii!!

1xRun: Where else can people find you?
Jasper Wong:  PowWow HawaiiWebsiteFacebook –
