Friday, July 18th from 7-11pm, Inner State Gallery is proud to welcome Detroit photographer Jeremy Deputat for his debut solo exhibition Nothing Is Forever.  Through portraiture and street photography, Nothing Is Forever showcases a hometown hero who has honed his craft from humble beginnings and documented musicians and artists with unwavering personality and honesty.

Spanning Deputat’s professional career, Nothing Is Forever showcases an impressive collection of global music icons that he has captured throughout the last 10 years. His intimate and personal portraits of Eminem, Kid Rock, 50 Cent, Mayer Hawthorne and Rick Rubin have been seen by million of fans on multi-platinum albums, magazine covers and widely distributed press photos. In addition to this global lineup, Deputat also keeps his eye on the pulse of the underground capturing legendary photographs of Detroit’s own Elzhi, Phat Kat, Moodyman and Danny Brown.

“Over the years, I’ve resisted the temptation of hosting an exhibition as I felt more comfortable in the streets creating art. I’ve known the guys at Inner State for nearly 20 years and we thought it was the right time to kick it off and it definitely had to happen in Detroit. This is my home and the city that made me,” Deputat said while preparing the show in Detroit’s Eastern Market.

This explosive exhibition from one of the city’s most sought after photographers is a mix of iconic imagery as well as never before seen photographs that take the viewer behind the scenes. This exhibition will feature his limited edition fine art prints of these famous photographs for sale for the 1st time ever.

Deputat’s photographs have appeared on the covers and inside the pages of publications such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, Spin, ESPN The Magazine, AdWeek and Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Most recently, Deputat collaborated with Kid Rock on “I’m Kid Rock, What’s Your Excuse?” – a massive 176-page large-format coffee table photo book documenting Rock’s 2011 summer tour. Documenting 20+ cities and culled from over 25,000 photos, the limited edition book sold out immediately.

“I have always gravitated towards shooting landscapes, cities and people. I just think it’s natural to want to explore and document other cities and cultures. I’m always making pictures in my head, and whenever I have the opportunity to capture what I see, I try to do it,” Deputat said.  “The Motor City is like a Hollywood backlot but 100 times better. You can’t even create this shit if you wanted to. There is so much history, texture and color that you can’t find anywhere. Growing up in Detroit has made me who I am today.”

About Jeremy Deputat:
|Since he was a kid in the 80’s collecting records (Run-DMC’s “Raising Hell” kicked off his collection) and magazines like Thrasher, Hit Parader & Metal Edge, Jeremy Deputat has been influenced by music, culture and art. Combining his desire to create and his fascination with capturing life on film led the Detroit-bred artist to quit his day job as an art director and to focus on doing what he loves the most – photographing people and culture. Although he travels frequently, JD continues to sculpt his raw style and gain inspiration from the gritty Motor City he calls home.

About Inner State:
Inner State Gallery is Detroit’s premier art gallery for both established and emerging artists, both locally and internationally. Located in Eastern Market, the 1800 square foot gallery is home to two exhibition spaces, an artist live/work space, and the gallery’s publishing company 1xRUN.
