Mary Williams Returns For Valentine’s Day With 2 New Originals To Drop The Love Bomb

1xRUN Thru Interview
Drop the Love Bomb by Mary Williams

1xRUN: Tell us a little bit about these pieces.
Mary Williams: I had some ‘romantic’ paper pieces that I thought I would use for some of my ironic feminist works, but then I got inspired by these tiny grenade-shaped erasers I have in my studio. I thought they would make a pretty mean valentine. And after I made the love bomb I saw some doilies in a store and I had to make another valentine.

1xRUN: Tell us a bit about how the idea and execution for these pieces came about?
Mary Williams: I had the little piece of white paper with the nice scalloped edge and I wondered, what can I draw on this that will have a big impact? It all came together after that.

1xRUN: How long did this they take?
Mary Williams: That doily one took long enough!

1xRUN: What is unique about these pieces?
Mary Williams: They both combine the sweetness of beginning love and the serious business of a long term relationship. I am good at combining the sweet with the scary.
