1xRUN Thru Interview
Odin’s Protector by Michael Page
1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Michael Page: Odin’s Protector was created to watch over the most important person in my world. Odin was made to represent a new uprise or re-birth for a new birth. The original was painted with acrylic paint with layers of oil over the top to give a depth affect and glow to the piece. I also added gold flakes and glitter in some areas. It was created from 2011- 2012.
1xRun: How long did the piece take?
Michael Page: Each piece varies in the time it takes to complete, depending on how many other paintings I am working on. I would say anywhere from 100 to 300 hours for a bigger piece like Odin’s Protector.
1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Michael Page: It was created by me for the purpose of creating what I love to do…make art. Also each piece will be uniquely hand-embellished, making each a one of a kind.
1xRun: Describe the print in one gut reaction word.
Michael Page: Powerful.
1xRun: When did you first start making art?
Michael Page: When I was a kid. Then when I was in my mid twenties.
1xRun: What was your first piece?
Michael Page: A painting of Paddington Bear, when I was six years old…my mother owns it.
1xRun: What artists inspired you early on?
Michael Page: Francis Bacon, Wassily Kandinsky and Leonardo Di Vinci.

1xRun: Do you listen to music while you work? If so what? If not then what is your environment like when you work?
Michael Page: I listen to everything from talk radio to classical music and always a very good dose of metal.
1xRun: If you could collaborate with any deceased artists who would it be and why?
Michael Page: Francis Bacon, he paints from the ether and he paints messy.
