1xRun Thru Interview
Bad For You by Mimi Pond
1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this piece, is the original still for sale?
Mimi Pond: “Bad For You” was part of a show called “Bad For You,” curated by collector-curator Beth Rudin DeWoody, at the Shizaru Gallery in London, England in October 2012. It was inspired by the theme of the show, “Bad For You” and I simply thought about all the creepy/gross things we do in secret that are only bad for you if someone else finds out! The original is not still for sale.
1xRUN: When was this piece created and with what materials?
Mimi Pond: This piece was created over the course of a few days in June or 2012 using ink and watercolor on watercolor paper.
1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Mimi Pond: No one else could do it but me!
1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Mimi Pond: It’s funny and it’s perfect to hang in your bathroom.
1xRun: Describe this piece in one gut reaction word.
Mimi Pond: EW!
1xRun: This will be your first year joining the Pow Wow Hawaii family, who are some of the artists you’re really excited to see painting out there?
Mimi Pond: I’m really not up on street art and it’s such a big family! I look forward to meeting them all.
1xRun: Have you been to Hawaii before or will this be your first time out there? What are you looking forward to?
Mimi Pond: First time. Looking forward to everything!
1xRun: Do you have any plans for your wall out there or are you just going to improvise it when you get there?
Mimi Pond: Not planning on doing a wall.
1xRun: How did 2013 wrap up for you, any big events to end last year?
Mimi Pond: I finished my 270-page graphic novel, Over Easy.
1xRun: Aside from Pow Wow 2014, what are your plans for the new year?
