Jeff Zuck is the owner and founder of Name Brand tattoo studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Zuck is a veteran in the game and a staple in the Midwest. After quitting Japanese traditional tattooing a few years back, he and his eclectic staff of artists have managed to accomplish something most studios in my humble opinion can’t. The mood at Name Brand — located at 514 E Washington St. — is like walking into a friend’s home. It’s relaxed and whether you have 100 tattoos, or it’s your first, no one is going to judge you. I went to the shop to grab a quick piece from Jeff and snapped a few shots of the shop.
Located in the heart of the University of Michigan’s campus there are 5 full time tattooers on staff that range from American traditional bangers to custom Japanese body suits. The shop has a tough and serious repertoire of quality work leaving the doors daily. Solid workers from solid employees, plain and simple, the way things ought to be.
The two newest additions to the shop are Tomek & Nick. Bringing in the young blood has paid off well for the shop. New artists tend to bring in other new faces and balance out the old with the new styles.
Almost every piece of flash and artwork has been hand done by the artists that occupy the chairs in the shop. You can get lost for hours just staring at the walls in the shop on any given day with classic imagery from floor to ceiling.
Do yourself a favor and stop in and just say hello if you’re ever in the neighborhood. Below are just a few examples of work that comes out the shop.
What I enjoy the most about the shop the relaxed vibe along with the dedicated people who work there day in and day out. I’m proud to say I have 5 tattoos myself done at Name brand.
