Black & Red Thorns by Stinkfish
1xRun: Tell us a bit about this image, is it part of a recent theme or series of work you did?
Stinkfish: It’s a piece that I created on an old record cover, it was a record of samba music from Brazil. I think it’s important to note that this piece was originally created for the street.
1xRUN: When was this piece created & with what materials ?
Stinkfish: It was created earlier this year, around March using permanent ink markers.
1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about for this piece?
Stinkfish: I just really liked the record cover when I saw it at a little second hand shop in my home town of Bogota. I think I have had the piece since last year, but I have just been waiting for the moment to work on it. There is always an element of my work that relates the thorns as a self defense.
1xRun: How long did the piece take?
Stinkfish: Around 2 days.
1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Stinkfish: I think it is a complex image using the original photo of the record cover, and with the red thorns it turns more complex.
1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Stinkfish: May be the people also can watch it in some corner pasted high.
1xRun: Describe this piece in one gut reaction word.
Stinkfish: Shock.
1xRun: What have you been doing the past 2-3 months? Any traveling or shows?
Stinkfish: Lots of traveling, some countries of Europe, San Andrés and Providence Islan at Colombia, and now I am currently in the middle of a trip between Nepal and India.
1xRun: What was the last piece of art that you bought?
Stinkfish: Little Nepalese poster and print in in honor and respect for snakes
