Van Saro Returns With Mean Streets

1xRUN Thru Interview
Mean Streets by Van Saro

1xRUN: You’ll be doing some live painting this weekend, what’s going on with that?
Van Saro: I’m painting at an event called “Lightning in a Bottle“. 15,000 people 4 days, this event is amazing. I did it last year for the first time, and it was probably the best live painting experience I’ve had, I hope this year is as dope.

1xRUN: Tell us a little bit about this piece is it still available?
Van Saro:  This piece was created as a part of the La Luz De Jesus 25th anniversary show. It is sold. It was done 2 years ago for a homie locked up. That’s as far as I’ll go with my explanation. I will let everybody derive their own conclusions about it.

La Luz 11xRUN: How long did the piece take? What is unique about this piece?
Van Saro: This piece took about a month. This might be my favorite painting.

1xRUN: Why should people buy this print?
Van Saro:They should only by it, if it speaks to them

1xRUN: Describe this piece in one gut reaction word.
Van Saro: Life.

1xRUN: What artists inspired you early on? How about now?
Van Saro: Early on it was all the graff artists from the 90’s that were killin’ it. As for now it has been classical painters like Norman Rockwell and William Bouguereau.

1xRUN: Do you listen to music while you work?
Van Saro: All types of music, from rap to classical and everything else.

1xRUN: If you could collaborate with any living artist who would it be and why? Any deceased artists?
Van Saro: Maybe Craola because I think that the contrast in our styles would fit well together. For the latter, it would be Norman Rockwell, he was my biggest inspiration.
