1xRUN Thru Interview
Tree by Icy and Sot

1xRun: Tell us a bit about this piece, is the original still for sale?
Icy & Sot: This piece is from the new series that we have been working on for a solo show in New York in mid summer. It began as a multilayer stencil from pieces we have done in the streets. We are trying to bring outdoor pieces with the environment onto our indoor pieces.

1xRUN: What materials were used to create this piece with?
Icy & Sot: Every piece in this series are multilayer stencil and spray paint.

1xRun: When was the piece created and how long did it take to complete?
Icy & Sot: The piece itself was done in August of 2013 and only took about a week to cut and paint, but there was a pre process where we painted it on a wall first.

1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Icy & Sot: We were living in the neighborhood surrounded with warehouses and industrial factories. We were missing trees which is hard to find in New York so we came up with that idea.

1xRun: When did you first start making art? What was your first piece?
Icy & Sot: It started with our skateboarding career in 2005. We used to make small stencils and stickers and put them in our skate spots and on the streets as well. Our first first piece as street art was a beggar kid sitting in the corner on the streets of Tabriz.
