1xRUN Thru Interview
Our Father by Sket One
1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this piece, is the original still for sale?
Sket One: I will be selling 25 Black Limited Edition Resin Sculptures – Size: 16” W x 25” H x 8” D Weight: 10lbs later in the year on my website.
1xRun: Was this piece part of a recent theme, series or show that you had?
Sket One: This piece is the start of a bigger series that I will be doing, straying away from my normal custom toy venue to focus on more of a higher artistic road.
1xRUN: What materials were used create to original sculpture with?
Sket One: Sculpted, kit bashed and arranged…total mix media.
1xRun: When was the piece created?
Sket One: I started conception of the piece over 3 years ago, but needed the means and time to execute it.
1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Sket One: The commandment “Thou shall not worship false idols” was going to be a show title for me and still might. I have a whole gallery show dedicated to this concept and this piece is one of that show.
1xRun: How long did the piece take?
Sket One: Took about 6 months to pull everything together, but was in the works for 3 years.
1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Sket One: Jesus Darth Vader! Need I say more?
1xRun: Why should people buy these pieces and print?
Sket One: It’s Vader is all his glory.
1xRun: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.
Sket One: Holy shit.
1xRun: Both of your releases thus far have been Star Wars themed, when did you first see any of the movies, and which is your favorite?
Sket One: I saw the movies when they were first released. I was 7 years old when Star Wars was released and I think within my age group Star Wars is a way of life, ingrained to say the least.
1xRun: What are your thoughts on the recent prequel?
Sket One: All things must grow, I don’t have to like everything, but there are some things I do like. The effects being one of them.
1xRun: Do you have high hopes for the upcoming incarnations of Star Wars or has the best of the series past?
Sket One: I am more excited for these releases than the previous. I am hoping they really deliver, though I can’t get my expectations to high. I think the original 3 will always be the TRUE movies.
1xRun: If you could be involved in the films what would you want to do? Or would you prefer to keep it separate?
Sket One: I’d be happy with old actors being involved, old places and characters expanding on the original movies players rather then new people.
1xRun: What was the last piece of art that you bought?
Sket One: Two originals from artist and friend Steven Lopez.
1xRun: Any big shows or events coming up that you’d like to share?
Sket One: Black Book Gallery In Denver Colorado is having a STAR WARS Themed show sponsored by Vans and Santa Cruz Skateboard June 6th 2014. I will have a full alter installed with lots of surprises.
1xRun: Where else can people find you?
