1xRun: Was this piece part of a recent theme or series that you had?
Mimi Yoon: It’s not a part of any theme or series, but lately, most of the paintings I’ve been doing are comic related, as is this piece.

1xRun: When was the piece created an how long did it take to complete?
Mimi Yoon: This piece was painted over a couple of weeks in February 2014 in a hurry to make the deadline for the first issue of Vampirella .

1xRun: Is there anything immediate you would like us to highlight?
Mimi Yoon: This is the art for the Vampirella comic book ultra-rare virgin cover.

1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about for this piece?
Mimi Yoon: Hmmm…I kept thinking sexy, strong, vampire, beautiful, red, classy, feminine, and etc… and she happened.

1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Mimi Yoon: Not necessarily unique, but special since this was the first piece I created right after the Powerpuff Girls controversy in January 2014. I was very happy to freely translate the beauty of adult female anatomy in my own style.

1xRun: Why do you feel people should buy this print?
Mimi Yoon: It being the art for a super rare comic book cover. Besides, the piece embraces the beauty of women, both feminine and strong.

1xRun: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.
Mimi Yoon: Beautiful.

1xRun: Tell us about a few of the comic projects that you’ve worked on thus far?
Mimi Yoon: I’ve done a couple DC Comic’s fine art prints, “Bad Girls” and “To Tease The Bat” (which was just released this month). I’m currently working on a Spider-Man fine art print piece which will be my first Marvel project. If all goes as scheduled, it will be released at San Diego Comic Convention 2014. I’ve done all 4 covers for IDW and 2000AD’s “Judge Dredd: Judge Anderson, Psi-Division” mini series comic books which will start in August. I’m actually working on the 4th cover at the moment. A variant cover for “Adventure Time 29” (BOOM Studios), a variant cover for “Powerpuff Girls 6″(IDW) which caused that huge ridiculous controversy back in January and the super rare cover for “Vampirella” comic book.
