Faster Pussycat by Anarkitty
1xRun: Tell us a little about this piece?
Anarkitty: I had been mulling over ideas about villainesses and came across Faster Pussy Pussycat KILL KILL. Knowing it was a cult movie and LOVING Tura Santana’s Character, I thought Yes, that’s it! Bad girls are always a lot more interesting to draw. I did a few rough layouts and came up with an initial sketch. Then did a rough color layout in Photoshop and started painting from that.
1xRun: Was this piece part of a recent theme, series or show that you had?
Anarkitty: It was part of Gallery 1988’s Crazy for Cult 7 (New York) show. Faster Pussy Cat Kill Kill, being my chosen Cult Movie because Tura Santana Character was one Badass Kitty.
1xRUN: What materials did you use to create this piece?
Anarkitty: Acrylic on canvas.
1xRun: When was the piece created and how long did it take to complete?
Anarkitty: I did this piece back in November of 2013 and took me about a two weeks of drawing to complete.
1xRun: When did you first start making art?
Anarkitty: It was way back in 2007ish when I lived in London.
1xRun: What artists inspired you early on?
Anarkitty: When I was a kid I loved Allen Lee, Brian Fraud, and Kay Neelson. I still do love them.
1xRun: What was your first piece?
Anarkitty: I can’t remember the name of it. But it wasn’t great.
1xRun: What artists inspire you now?
Anarkitty: Tatiana Suarez, Jaw Cooper, Casey Weldon and Tom Bagshaw, to name but a few.
1xRun: Do you listen to music while you work?
Anarkitty: Yes usually but it can depend on my mood. Sometimes I need it to be quiet and calming and other times loud and electric.
1xRun: Any big shows or events coming up that you’d like to share?
Anarkitty: I have a joint show with a wonderful Artist called Pum Pum at Gallery FB69 ‘ called ‘Flights of Fancy’ Opening on the 19th of July.
I have a few group shows coming up: Spoke Arts Kubrick group show in August and Gallery 1988 Crazy For Cult 8 in December.
