ThankYouX Debuts With In Your Arms

1xRun Thru Interview
In Your Arms by ThankYouX

1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this piece…
ThankYouX: I created this print special for 1xRUN. It was inspired by a remix I did for a DJ producer named Michael Woods. The lyrics from the song were really inspiring and made me want to create something special.

1xRun: Was this piece part of a recent theme, series or show that you had?
ThankYouX: I have been doing prints for all of the remixes I have released lately. I feel that music and art can be one. I only choose songs that inspire me. When I make music, it makes me want to create more paintings and when I paint it makes me want to get back in the studio and make more music. I want to continue this Art/Music project for the rest of the year.

1xRun: When did you first start making art?
ThankYouX: When I was super young I started painting and making clay sculptures, then started doing street art around 2001.

1xRun: What was your first piece?
ThankYouX: Hmmm… I think my first cool piece of art was a painting of Jesus as a transgender in a bathing suit. I put it in a group Jesus themed show and it sold. Some people got mad about it so I thought it was a success.

1xRun: Do you listen to music while you work?
ThankYouX: I couldn’t make art without music playing. I mostly listen to dance music or old hardcore bands.
