Cash For Your Warhol Debuts with CFYW Next Crash

1xRUN Thru Interview
CFYW Next Crash by Cash For Your Warhol

1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this piece, is the original still for sale? Was it created solely for this release or was there an original piece created?
Cash For Your Warhol: This was created for this release. This is only the third print on paper we have made in 6 years.

1xRun: Was this piece part of a recent theme, series or show that you had? If so how did it fit into that given grouping?
Cash For Your Warhol: This piece reflects our fascination with similar signage that litters our landscape, and which were the inspiration for the project itself. Some of them have been reproduced in this print, although they are little more abstract in the way they are layered.

1xRun: When was the piece created?
Cash For Your Warhol: We began to create this last fall in collaboration with printmaker James Weinberg. It was an improvisation that lasted several weeks.

1xRun: Anything immediate you would like us to highlight?
Cash For Your Warhol: The print includes traditional CFYW signage, but it also includes 4 or 5 other signs I have collected over time that advertise things like tattoo removal and life insurance for diabetics. You can see them if you look at it long enough, but I feel it works even if you can’t.

1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Cash For Your Warhol: I have been collecting these plastic (Coroplast) advertising signs for years, imagining integrating them into my project at some point. I have some other ideas on how this will be developed, but I really like the way this first stab at it has turned out.

1xRun: How long did the piece take?
Cash For Your Warhol: Including the design, it took about a month.

1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Cash For Your Warhol: This is only my third print, but the first one that merges my work with advertising from other companies that are, theoretically, legitimate business practices.

1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Cash For Your Warhol: The colors are beautiful in the way we have blended them, but the print succeeds in the way it is layered. We hope it will look different to the viewer each time you look at it.

1xRun: Describe this print in one gut reaction word.
Cash For Your Warhol: Pop.
