1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this series, was it created solely for this release or was there an original piece created? Is the original still for sale?
Greg Gossel: This is a series of 24 varied-edition works on paper and 6 original wood panels based off a large 8x8ft canvas I created this past December at the Heineken House live painting event at SCOPE Miami Beach. The original canvas is available through ABV Agency in Atlanta.
1xRun: When were these pieces created?
Greg Gossel: I created the series over a two week span earlier this year.
1xRun: Tell us a bit about your process and how the idea and execution came about for this series?
Greg Gossel: I created a large canvas late last year for the Heineken House live painting event. When I returned to the studio I was interested in using that piece as a starting point for a new print series where I could experiment with a more detailed layering process and variety of color palettes.
1xRun: What do you feel is unique about this series?
Greg Gossel: Each piece is in the series is different from the next. The process began with a variety of spontaneous screen printed layers followed by more planned elements, which created a really interesting juxtaposition of structure and chaos throughout the series.
1xRun: Why should people buy these pieces?
Greg Gossel: As with all my work I put a lot of energy and attention to detail into this series. Each piece is hand printed with dozens of silkscreen layers creating a unique depth which was then layered with subtle spray painted textural elements and finally hand deckled.
