It’s clear that the bleak concrete structures so prevalent in post-communist Poland have acted as a surrogate canvases for the artists being exhibited, many of whom began their careers as muralists and graffiti artists. Despite this, all seven are now just as at home indoors as they are on the streets of Warsaw or Krakow, their fine art seamlessly bridging the gap between the wall and the traditional gallery art space.

Figurative works by Robert Proch, Sepe, and Otecki are flanked by Chazme’s geometric, architectural delineations – a theme which continues through more abstract paintings by Pener and Nawer – alongside M-City’s boldly stenciled imagined cityscapes.

This will be the last ever exhibition at The Outsiders Newcastle, and we hope those of you in the area will join us at the preview from 6pm–9pm on Thursday 30th October to raise a glass or two in celebration of our past seven years in this glorious city. For those who can’t make it, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your enthusiasm and support over the years and wish you all a very fond farewell.
