1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this piece, is the original still for sale?
Tara McPherson: This was created for Dorothy Circus Gallery for Scope Miami during Art Basel this past December. The original painting will be available at my upcoming exhibition in Rome this June 2015 at Dorothy Circus Gallery.
1xRun: Was this piece part of a recent series that you had? If so how did it fit into that given grouping?
Tara McPherson: This painting is definitely part of an ongoing series, stemming from the Wandering Luminations show, but in a sense all my works are related as they continue to evolve within themes I have been interested in lately. I’m still exploring aurora’s, energy, electromagnetism, bioluminescence, internal vs. external, science, and nature to create portraits of these powerful females I imagine exist in these alternate realms. For this next show in Rome at Dorothy Circus I’m researching more into Quantum Theory and it’s relation to our physical world as well as our subconscious. I love the research phase, it’s so fascinating to me!

Tara McPherson: Oil on Birch Panel.

Tara McPherson: December 2014.
1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Tara McPherson: I was thinking about particle physics and string theory, how these tiny subatomic particles are theorized to dance and not truly exist in one location. As well as the power we have with our thoughts and vision, I think it’s a fun idea to create a physical manifestation of thought… literally something coming out of one’s body, head or eyes. I tried to create a woman who was the goddess of sorts for this idea.

Tara McPherson: This one took about a few weeks to complete.
