CES Takes The Last MTA Car For A Ride

1xRUN Thru Interview
In Transit by CES

1xRUN: Tell us a little bit about the original piece, it’s painted some pretty unique materials isn’t it?
CES: The original is painted with spray paint and posca markers on a New York City transit subway train letter line. It is a one of a kind. It was created in 2012 for the Detroit Beautification Project and it is for sale here at 1xRUN for $1200.

1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?  How long did this piece take?
CES:  A friend of mine works for the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) and he was able to remove the train line letters before they sent the old trains out ot be dumped in the ocean to create coral reef. This is a true piece of history.  This piece took several days from start to finish and over 30 years of practice.

1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
CES:  The original piece is painted directly on the MTA vinyl sheet from the 1980s. The prints each piece will be hand-embellished making each one unique and a one of a kind.

1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
CES:  It’s worth it! The piece is very rare.

1xRun: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.
CES:  Classic.
