1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this piece, what materials was it printed on & drawn with?
Dan Quintana:  The original was created with oil on wood.  The scene captures some of the Golden era of Hollywood. Since I was born in raised in Los Angeles and grew up on classic films, I wanted to recreate the same feeling I received in watching those films through means of paint in a modern way.1xRun: How long did the piece take?
Dan Quintana:  1 year. It was created from January 2011 to December 2011.

1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Dan Quintana:  It is my largest life-size painting I have ever created, and this is the largest print I have created.1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Dan Quintana:  Because it’s awesome. And you only own awesome things, right?

1xRun: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.
Dan Quintana: Orifices.1xRun: What artists inspired you early on? How about now?
Dan Quintana:  Hieronymus Bosch, Arnold Böcklin and Max Ernst. Still those three inspire me.
1xRun: Do you listen to music while you work? W hat is your environment like when you work?
Dan Quintana:  I have ran out of music to listen to. It’s now mostly classical and live feeds of police scanners. Those two go well hand in hand.

1xRun: What else do you have in the works for 2013?
Dan Quintana: I will be having a solo show at Varnish gallery in San Francisco in May and Art Basel Miami in December.
