Tom Bagshaw Gives Us The Story Behind His Latest Falls Grace

1xRun Thru Interview
Falls Grace by Tom Bagshaw

1xRUN: Tell us a little bit about this piece, what Materials printed on/drawn with?
Tom Bagshaw:
The original was created for Scope Miami, late 2011. Shown and sold with Corey Helford Gallery.  It was digitally painted in Corel Painter ix.5 with a bit of Artrage and Photoshop for color adjustments, additional texture etc.1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about? How long did this piece take?
Tom Bagshaw: I wanted to do something about life and rebirth and after some scribbles came to a seasonal angle on the subject. The main focus was the ghost / spirit of the flower being ‘contained’ or held by the female character while the plant itself turned to ice, it grew from there really. This piece took a few days I think, after the initial ideas and sketching.

1xRun: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.
Tom Bagshaw:
Cold.1xRun: Bring us up to speed on how 2012 ended for you and what you’ve been up to so far in 2013?
Tom Bagshaw:
2012 was a busy year, mainly of group shows, which have all been great fun to be involved with, now in 2013 I’m trying to get back to a couple of personal projects and step back from doing quite so many shows. I’m currently working on a new series of portraits, quite dark stuff, both tone and palette- mixing inspirational elements of beauty, the occult and tattoo culture, fun stuff! Still have a bunch of group shows this year as well so plenty to do this year!
