Banksy’s Dismaland “Bemusement” Park To Open For 5 Weeks

“Are you looking for an alternative to the sugar-coated tedium of the average family day out? Or just somewhere a lot cheaper? Then Dismaland is the place for you. Bring the whole family to come and enjoy the latest addition to our chronic leisure surplus…” These are the words that greet visitors on prolific United Kingdom artist Banksy‘s Dismaland website which went live early the morning of August 18th. The artist has launched an immersive 5 week exhibition taking place at the once abandoned Tropicana, roughly 5 hours from London, located in Weston-super-Mare featuring over a dozen installations and 3 galleries.

Banksy has also allegedly released a statement saying “I loved the Tropicana as a kid, so getting to throw these doors open again is a real honour. I hope everyone from Weston will take the opportunity to once more stand in a puddle of murky water eating cold chips to the sound of crying children,” according to NME.

Beginning Friday August 21st, the park will open for “Locals Only” and will be ticketed after that for a little over a month. In addition to over a dozen outdoor attractions, the park will also feature dozens of artworks across 3 galleries featuring a massive international artist roster below.  The fine folks over at Juxtapoz unveiled today that Banksy will grace their October cover and were kind enough to share a few photos of some of the works inside. Be sure to subscribe to Juxtapoz to read the full exclusive interview. Read on to check out the insane roster and some exclusive photos from Juxtapoz showcasing the works on view at Dismaland. (Note: Two 1xRUN alumni Lush and Scott Hove are in the lineup.)

In addition, several news sources and a yet to be deemed official Facebook page have started posting photos from inside the park that sync up with the official map. With only 3£ admission the park will also apparently unveil 10 new works from Banksy himself.
