Putting an exclamation point on the end of 2016 with his first print release ever, Dasic Fernandez wrapped up the year in style rocking a massive dance floor mural down in Turks & Caicos. 1xRUN Contributing Writer & Photographer Daniel Weintraub aka Halopigg was down at the swanky resort to help Dasic and document the prolific muralist’s latest work as 2017 arrived. Take it away Halo…
Dasic Fernandez and myself, were lucky enough to travel to the beautiful islands of Turks and Caicos for New Year’s Eve to paint a dance floor for the amazing Amanyara Resort. The project was coordinated by Goldman Global Arts, the same people that brought you the Miami Dolphins Stadium project, as well as Wynwood Walls, The Houston/Bowery Wall and lots more! Over the course of four days, I helped Dasic as he painted a 12′ x 32′ dance floor, as well as two 4′ x 8′ accent pieces that were hung behind the stage for Amanyara’s grandiose NYE event. We were treated like rockstars the entire time, and if you still follow me after all my instagram stories of beach and gourmet food I thank you! Through it all, we worked long days on our hands and knees, but we were able to enjoy a few perks of the amazing 5-star resort as well! Thank you so much to GGA, and everyone at Amanyara for making the experience so one of a kind. I’m also proud to say that after the event was over the pieces were auctioned off to benefit the local high school on the island! It is also likely that the pieces themselves will stay at the school benefiting the art program there even more!
