Born and raised in Detroit, James is a calm and calculated voice in the city’s tight knit art community, and her latest series Appropriated Not Appreciated James calls attention to the state of black women in America. Most recently James was featured in our recent group exhibition The Detroiter in San Francisco and her pieces continue to gain critical and fan acclaim both locally and nationally.
