Here for her debut RUN Lithuanian artist Natalie Shau brings us a slight departure from her typical style with the psychedelic absinthe swirl of Siamese. Read on to find out more about Natalie’s latest pieces, her influences and more!

1xRun: What materials was the original created with?
Natalie Shau: This work is digital drawing and some antique scans for the background.
1xRun: When was the piece created?
Natalie Shau: This piece was created in 2008.
1xRun: Anything immediate you would like us to highlight?
Natalie Shau: First of all it is a picture about cats! I think cats are most graceful animals, most mysterious too.
1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Natalie Shau: This piece was done to decorate limited edition absinthe bottles. note the greenish color and hallucinogenic looking kitties.
1xRun: How long did the piece take?
Natalie Shau: About 2 days.
1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Natalie Shau: I think it is unique, because it is portrait of animals, as I usually do people portraits
1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Natalie Shau: If they love cats and absinthe they must have it! :)
1xRun: Describe the piece/print in one gut reaction word.
Natalie Shau: fierce!
1xRun: When did you first start making art?
Natalie Shau: At most early age, i think being 3 years old.
1xRun: What was your first piece?
Natalie Shau: oh really don’t remember :)
1xRun: What artists inspired you early on?
Natalie Shau: amazing Lithuanian graphic artist Stasys Krasauskas.
1xRun: What artists inspire you now?
Natalie Shau: Björk, Eiko Ishioka, Matthiew Barney & Alexander McQueen.
1xRun: Do you listen to music while you work? If so what? If not then what is your environment like when you work?
Natalie Shau: Every piece needs special music! I love electronic music! IDM, minimal techno, early dubstep, witchhouse.
1xRun: If you could collaborate with any living artist who would it be and why?
Natalie Shau: Björk! She is most amazing performance artist!
1xRun: If you could collaborate with any deceased artists who would it be and why?
Natalie Shau: Alexander McQueen, he is my most favorite clothes designer.
1xRun: What was the first piece of art that you bought? Do you still have it?
Natalie Shau: I don’t collect art pieces, but I collect artbooks. but when I will own my own big house I will start buying art for sure.
