1xRUN Thru Interview
Turnt Up by Rime
1xRun: Tell us a little bit about these pieces, are the original pieces for sale?
Rime: Two of these works were from my recent Reaction Lines exhibition at Galerie Wallworks in Paris this past April of 2014. The two other works were created shortly after that after returning home. Each of original works has been sold.
1xRun: What materials were used to create these pieces?
Rime: I used 140lb stock paper, ink pens and markers. Each work starts off with an abstract base of balanced lines and color. From there I freestyle in elements without pencil. I keep working until each piece has some sort of theme.
I try to tie in whatever is going on in my life or things I find amusing. An example would be in the work “Paused”, I tied in something that was being talked about on the Wendy Williams show. Chicks were on there saying you can tell a guys dick size by the size and shape of their thumbs.
1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Rime: Snap.
1xRun: How long did each piece take?
Rime: These pieces are usually worked on within a stack of drawings all getting done at the same time. They can take anywhere from 2 days to two weeks to complete depending on how much the ideas flow out.
1xRun: What is unique about each of these pieces compared to your other work?
Rime: True.
1xRun: Why should people buy these prints?
Rime: Because I keep it real in the ghetto.
1xRun: Describe this series in one gut reaction word.
Rime: Joseph.
1xRun: What have you been up to since our last release in December?
Rime: Traveling, cooped up in the studio painting, and throwing some epic tribute parties.
1xRun: Any shows or events coming up ?
Rime: August 6th I have some paintings in the Cruel Summer group show at Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York City.
1xRun: Where else can people find you?
