1xRun Thru Interview
Miami Dreams by Rone

1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this piece, was it part of a recent theme, series or show that you had?
Rone: This piece is part of my continuing Jane Doe series. It is also based on the first large wall I ever painted completely freehand.

1xRun: When was it painted and with what materials?
Rone: The piece was created in one day in 2011 using bucket paint and water.

1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Rone: I had arrived in Wynwood with nothing organised and very few connections, this wall was given to me by Surge as he didn’t have time to paint it. I had never painted a wall freehand but was up for the challenge. I see it as the moment when I realised I could go much, much bigger with what I was doing.

1xRun: How long did the piece take?
Rone: It was all done in one day. It still stands at NW 25th St, Wynwood Miami. It was one of the few walls left for years as it was in the front yard on someone’s house. Unfortunately due to the gentrification of Wynwood the house has now been demolished to make way for a development.

1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Rone:  I would have never chosen a salmon coloured wall if I had the choice but it was perfect for a Miami setting. The colour really worked so it inspired me to bring it into my canvas works.

1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Rone:  Ha – well I hope they buy it because they love it.
