Burlap Flower by Scott Radke
Scott Radke works from his subconscious imagery with mixed media sculpture, animal human hybrid explorations and considers himself highly influenced by nature. His artwork can be found all over the place from London to Los Angeles, in major art collections the former Nike CEO Mark Parker, along with his design work making appearances in such films as Walt Disney’s Academy award winning Alice in Wonderland directed by Tim Burton.

“Burlap Flower” by Scott Radke
1xRUN: Let’s talk about the materials “Burlap Flower” was originally printed on/drawn with?
Scott Radke: The sculpture is made of clay, wire, burlap & acrylic paint, then I photographed it.
1xRUN: When was the piece drawn and created?
Scott Radke: 2011
1xRUN: Anything immediate you would like us to highlight first?
Salvador Dali
Scott Radke: It was part of my show “Burlap” at ThinkSpace Gallery last June.
1xRUN: How long did the piece take from start to finish?
Scott Radke: About 3 weeks to complete.
1xRUN: Why should people buy this print?
Scott Radke: I do not have any limited runs of prints of this size and
of this quality.
1xRUN: When did you first start making art?
Scott Radke: When I was a child.
1xRUN: What artists inspired you early on?
Scott Radke: Salvador Dali (r), Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, Jim Henson and Maurice Sendak.

1xRUN: What artists inspire you now?
Scott Radke: Joe Sorren, Jessica Joslin, Amanda Spayd and Chris Ryniak.
1xRUN: Do you listen to music while you work? If so what?
Scott Radke: I used to when I was younger but now I prefer quiet for some reason.
1xRUN: If you could collaborate with any living artist who would it be?
Scott Radke: Hmmm, I don’t know. I’d love to work with Jessica Joslin one day. I think our stuff would mesh together nicely.
1xRUN: If you could collaborate with any deceased artists who would it be?
Scott Radke: Dr. Seuss would be fun to work with. 
1xRUN: What was the first piece of art that you bought? Do you still have it?
Scott Radke: I do not buy a lot of art but I have some local Cleveland art that I am pretty attached to – a few of Tim Herron‘s paintings.

1xRUN: What else do you have in the works currently?
Scott Radke: I am doing a large totem pole for Morgan Spurlock. Its a gift actually since he helped support my show at ThinkSpace. I am really excited about it but it is taking me forever.
