1xRUN Thru Interview
War and Pieces by Sever
1xRUN: What materials were used to create this piece ?
Sever: Illustrated hand-drawn pencil sketch transformed into the 12-color screen print you see here.
1xRun: When was the piece drawn and created?
Sever: February of 2013. It was done over three nights around Valentine’s Day.
1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Sever: In addition to keeping it real, it’s a think piece.
1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Sever: If it’ll help sell more prints to the people skimming this then I can give a long drawn out answer that’s likely to repel even more potential customers.
1xRun: Describe this print in one gut reaction word.
Sever: Subtle.
1xRun: When did you first start making art? What was your first piece?
Sever: When I saw this image (left). My first piece was really when I conceived this (R) that I knew I was onto something. I had mastered Wildstyle®.
1xRun: What artists inspired you early on? What artists inspire you now?
Sever: The author of this (L) really set me on my path. (For the latter) Whoever did these (R) is firme.
1xRun: Do you listen to music while you work? If so what?
Sever: Unironically I’m intrigued by late 90′s nu rap metal mall-core stuff. But I do like classical music too.
1xRun: If you could collaborate with any living artist who would it be and why? Any deceased artists?
Sever: I’d say Bushwick Bill, Lugz designers, Pen and Pixel, MQUE and Big Dog’s art directors. [For the latter] GG Allin, Howard Zinn, Rudy Ray Moore, Frazetta, Manute Bol, Bashkie, SEO, Joseph Kyselak, George Carlin, Russel Jones, Tookie Williams, Will.I.Am etc…
1xRun: What was the last piece of art that you bought? Do you still have it?
Sever: Car lashes and flesh tone truck nuts qualify right?
1xRun: Anything you want to add?
Sever: RIP NEKST.
1xRun: Where else can people find you?
Sever: – Website –
