We had a chance to stop by Hashimoto Contemporary for the opening of their Summer Group Exhibition in San Francisco last week. This show brings together painters, sculptors, muralists, installation, and textile artists to celebrate both the creatives who have helped shape the programming at Hashimoto, as well as the new faces alike.
Rather than link a common thread throughout each artist’s practice, this month’s exhibit allows for independent growth and creative liberty, showcasing this multi-disciplinary group of contemporary makers at the forefront of the modern art world. The represented artists have regularly provided a refreshing mix of genres and mediums in the past, with exploration into portraiture and the human form, iconography and symbology, location and environment. Summer Group Show will feature work from returning artists like painters Jessica Hess, Erik Jones and Brett Amory alongside pieces from fan favorites such as Joel Daniel Phillips, Crystal Wagner, and 1010.
