1x: Tell us a little bit about this piece, anything immediate you would like us to highlight?
Brett Amory:  Last year during Art Basel I had a solo booth at Context art fair with Jonathan Levine Gallery. Club Deuce was one of the paintings in the show.

1x: Was this piece part of a recent  theme, series or show that you had?
Brett Amory:  The painting is part of my Waiting series. For the show I focused on iconic places around Miami.

1x: When was this piece created and what materials were used?
Brett Amory:
The original work was created in 2014 using oil paint on canvas.

1x: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Brett Amory:  The summer before Miami Basel I spent a few weeks in Miami documenting places. I did a lot of research leading up to the trip and a lot of documenting when I was there.  Everyone ends up at Club Deuce at some point during Basel, so I felt it was an appropriate place to include in the series.

1x: How long did the piece take?
Brett Amory: Hard to say. I usually work on an entire show all at once. The show took a few months.

1x: Why should people buy this print?
Brett Amory:  Why not.

1x: Describe this piece in one gut reaction word.
Brett Amory: Pink.

1x: Bring us up to speed on what you’ve been up to this year as 2015 winds down…
Brett Amory:  Just had a solo at Jonathan Levine in New York City.

1x: What strides do you think you’ve made in your work this year?
Brett Amory:  I realized its time refocus and play with new ideas.

1x: What are some of your goals for 2016 as an artist?
Brett Amory:   Explore new approaches without completely self-sabotaging.
