Fil Fury Remixes AK40Heaven

We first came across Fil Fury’s work through the Time exhibition curated by Greg Cummins. With his second RUN he returns with AK40Heaven. Inspired by the iconic Technics turntables the piece pulls from Fil’s “Make Art The Weapon” series.  Read on as Fil discusses his latest metal print AK40Heaven…

1xRun: Tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind this piece…
Fil Fury: This piece is inspired by late UK 90’s House and Garage music. These Technics decks were part of my youth. There was an original digital artwork I created, made from photographs I took a few years back. That piece has since been modified to create a bespoke run for 1xRUN. A stock has been added to the gun and we are printing on metal. It looks crazy! I am so happy with the result, the metal sheeting reflects the textures of the original Technics deck.

1xRun: Was this piece part of a recent theme, series or show that you had?
Fil Fury: It was a part of a series I called ‘Make Art The Weapon’ the goal being to take everyday objects such as sneakers and technology and show how they are my weapon.

1xRun: What materials did you use to create this piece?
Fil Fury: Photographs, digital manipulation, and screen print metal.

1xRun: When was this piece created?
Fil Fury: The original was created in 2013 and then later updated in 2015.

1xRun: How long did the piece take?
Fil Fury: Longer than expected as time was spent reminiscing playing old tunes while taking photos.

1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
Fil Fury: Did I mention it was on metal? It’s insane!

1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
Fil Fury: Did I mention it was on metal? It’s insane!

1xRun: Describe the print in one gut reaction word.
Fil Fury: Bangin’.

1xRun: Where else can we find you?
Fil Fury: WebsiteInstagramFacebook or on the beach, having a BBQ with my Rainmac on (I live in Brighton)…
