In the 1980s, Doze Green was at the precipice of the New York City graffiti scene and charged the battlefield in a major way. Now 30 years later he is on the verge of painting two masterpieces for the Bridges of Graffiti exhibition, which features 9 other legendary graffiti artists and photographers who have ruled on and off the streets for the past 30 plus years. First opened in 1893, this year marks the 56th Venice Biennial Art Festival in Venice, Italy and this year’s Bridges of Graffiti event brings a slew of veteran graffiti writers to the island of Dosroduro for the inaugural exhibit which positions itself 30 years after Arte di Frontiera – New York Graffiti. Curated by Francesca Alinovi in 1984, the now famous exhibition brought the New York graffiti scene to Italy. Read on to take a first look as 1xRUN photographer Mike Popso was on hand to capture Doze Green’s latest works in Dosoroduro, Italy for The Bridges of Graffiti, and stay tuned for additional coverage of the legendary artist roster and more from the Venice Biennial…
