POW! WOW! debut the latest mural festival in their growing stable as POW! WOW! Long Beach kicked off June 22nd – 27th with a compact, all-star cast of artists including James Jean, Tristan Eaton, Nychos, Cryptik, Jeff Soto, Aaron De La Cruz, Madsteez, Hueman, Jeff McMillan, Low Bros, Fafi, Push and Bumblebee Loves You. The week long festival not only featured the live large scale mural painting that Pow! Wow! has become famous for, but continued their educational artist programming with an artist talk between street wear icon Jeff Staple & Fafi for his 1-2-1 series, as well as featured children’s music programs by Pow! Wow! School of Music, a showing of Nychos‘ documentary film, and one truly epic museum exhibition that the Long Beach Musuem of Art (LBMA).
Originally birthed in Hong Kong in 2010, Pow! Wow! has had 5 successful festivals on their native Hawaiian island of Oahu, and over the past two years they have also continued to expand. Popping up with satellite festivals at South by Southwest in Texas and in Taiwan, the world’s premiere mural festival shows no signs of slowing down with their latest incarnation in Long Beach. 1xRUN Co-Founder and Creative Director Dan Armand headed out to check out all the murals of Pow! Deepest Depths of the Burrow Premiere – Presented by Imprint
Austrian graffiti artist Nychos Premiered the documentary film at the Long Beach Art Theatre on Thursday night to a sold out crowd of fans and artists.

The exhibition is on view until September 27th and features installation pieces and new original artwork from Aaron Horkey, Alex Yanes, Andrew Schoultz, Audrey Kawasaki, Brendan Monroe, Cryptik, Esao Andrews, Greg ‘Craola’ Simkins, Hot Tea, James Bullough, Jeff Soto, John S. Culqui, Low Bros, Meggs, Nosego, Nychos, Saber and Tristan Eaton, as well as a photography exhibit from Pow! Wow! photographer Brandon Shigeta.
